แผงโซล่าเซลล์ (Solarcell) พลังงานแสงอาทิตย์เป็นอุปกรณ์ซึ่งเป็นหัวใจหลักของระบบ พลังงานแสง

อาทิตย์ ทำหน้าที่ในการ รับพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์ แล้วเปลี่ยนพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์นั้นให้กลายเป็นไฟฟ้า โดยไฟฟ้า จากแผงโซล่าร์เซลล์ นั้น จะเป็นไฟฟ้ากระแสตรง และปริมาณไฟฟ้าที่ได้นั้น จะมากหรือน้อย ขึ้นอยู่กับ ความความเข้มของแสงแดดและขนาดกำลังของแผงเซลล์แสงอาทิตย์( วัตต์) แผงโซล่าเซลล์ที่มีขนาดกำลัง( วัตต์ ) มาก ก็จะให้ปริมาณกำลังไฟฟ้าได้มากกว่าแผงโซล่าเซลล์ ที่มีขนาด กำลังไฟฟ้าต่ำ ที่ปริมาณความเข้มแสงที่เท่ากัน

โดยไฟฟ้าที่ได้จากแผงรับพลังงานแสงอาทิตย์นั้นจะได้ไฟฟ้าออกมาเป็นไฟฟ้า

DCซึ่งก็สามารถนำ
ไปใช้ได้ โดยตรง ถ้าหากเครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้านั้นใช้ไฟฟ้า DC แต่อุปกรณ์เครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้าส่วนใหญ่เป็น ไฟฟ้า กระแสสลับ จึงต้องผ่านเครื่อง แปลงกระแสไฟฟ้า ( Inverter ) เพื่อแปลงให้เป็นไฟฟ้ากระแสสลับต่อไป
